Recent Posts:Self Employment versus working as an employeeI blog quite a bit about the merits of self employment. Most of what I write is just to push you to just start a business. When I started, I didn't have a stampede of customers running to my door. It took time and a lot of work to develop my practice. I would bet that one of the top fears employees currently think about is the lack of job security. It's not like the era of our grandparents or even parents for that matter. In times past, you could work your entire career in one company. I don't think that really exists for the masses like it did before. In fact, a good friend of mine just shared his company will be laying off a significant number of employees near the end of the year. Self employment is hard to envision when you have the steady paycheck to meet your financial obligations. It's much easier though when you read stories and know of others who have lost their jobs and have no prospects in sight. Why wait for catastrophe to occur when you have a job to help support the launching of a new business. Doesn't it make sense to start a business when you can reinvest the profits over and over again without needing to use it for your regular bills? It's o.k. if your new business doesn't generate a lot of profit in the beginning. It's better to have the time to start building a strong customer base while you still are working. When the money approaches what you make as an employee, the decision to operate a business full time becomes much easier. Take a chance and see how much safer it is to work for yourself.
