  • Lessons learned from bicycle riding

So, I had considerable time to think while pedaling my bicycle in the recent Tour De Cure from San Antonio to Austin.

There are certainly similarities between riding a bicycle long distances and running a business.

In each you must learn to pace yourself.  Maintain to fast a pace without preparation and you will burn yourself out too soon in either situation.  If you go too slow then you will be passed by and opportunities will be gone.  Use inferior tools and your performance will suffer.  If you don't pay attention to your health then you may not be there at the finish line.  Finally, enjoy the experience or it will feel like work instead of fun.

I really enjoyed participating in the recent Tour De Cure bicycle ride over this past weekend.  The people who participated were of all sizes, ages, gender, and ability.  Doing something outside the office let me recharge my batteries.  I hope to be able to continue riding my bicycle for many years to come.

I am a CPA in San Antonio and serve individuals and small businesses in San Antonio and surrounding areas.
