  • I don't need to advertise? Are you kidding?

I had a visit this week from someone just starting his business.  As we were chatting, he mentioned that I don't have to market because I've been established for awhile.  I was taken aback by the comment because businesses much larger than mine (Coke, Pepsi, McDonalds, etc...) continuously market their product or service and spend large sums of money to remain in the public mind.

Marketing yourself isn't something that stops once you reach a certain number of years or clients.  I've had many meetings with established businesses who've fallen on hard times.  Once I begin to ask questions, the lack of marketing is usually a big cause.  "I had so much work that I wasn't able to do both" is one of the more popular spoken phrases.  When they finished all that work, precious time must be spent to go out and find new customers. During the search for new customers, cash flow is negatively affected because employees and overhead must still be covered.

It doesn't have to be hard to market your business and there are many ways to do so without spending large sums of money.  It takes good planning and continuous effort to increase your chances of staying in business for the long haul.  That is an area where we can help the small business owner.

I am a CPA in San Antonio and serve individuals and small businesses in San Antonio and surrounding areas.  We provide bookkeeping, payroll, taxes and more.  The initial visit is free and we look forward to serving you.
