    • Why use a budget?

    Let's say you are a small business owner.  You work probably too many hours and come home tired.  One day leads into the next without a chance to rest.  Is that the life you want?
     
    Preparing a budget gives you a way to plan how you may be able to balance business with personal goals.  Maybe you want to have a way to gain more time for yourself.  A budget can give you a road to make that happen.  Perhaps you want to control costs.  A budget can help you get a handle on that too.  Maybe you want to increase sales.  With a budget, you may be able to set your sales target and then backfill how you intend to achieve it.
