    • Music may help productivity

    I was at a client site yesterday to close the books for the month.  The process is fairly singular in nature as I don't require much interaction with staff but do work quite a bit with the supporting documents.
     
    I decided to bring along an Ipod to find out if productivity increased, remained the same or decreased as I completed the task at hand.  Do you know what happened?  I finished faster than previous closes.  
     
    Perhaps it was a placebo effect but in this instance, music increased productivity.  
     
    I might try incorporating more of music when I work on things which require isolation and tedious tasks, as long as productivity increases of course.
