    • A ground floor proposition

    Golden handcuffs I call them.  You work to build your career and get to a point where you can't afford to go into business for yourself because you can't replace the level of compensation you currently receive as an employee.
     
    I knew I had to start a business before I lost my nerve or made too much w-2 wages to replace as a start up entrepreneur.  Some well meaning people will tell you don't do it (launch a business).  Many of those people are conditioned to receiving a paycheck and feel seniority at their place of business is their insurance from being laid off.  Well, the days of a secure place of employment to work an entire career are few and far between.  
     
    Why not get in on a ground floor proposition through starting your own business.  As your business grows then you will be on the top floor of your operation and better able to insulate yourself from layoffs and such.
     
    Some people don't have the temperament to operate their own business.  That's cool but if you do then why not work to line your pockets through your own hard work rather than make someone else rich first?
