I knew instantly who it was from the sound of her voice and we spoke for nearly a half hour. The lady on the other end of the phone call and I worked together in the accounting department of a newspaper many years before I took the step to self employment. Though we chatted about a number of things, the main purpose of the call was to share with me the news of an old co-workers passing.I can still see their faces in my mind though it's been decades since we've all been together. It was a small area where we worked and now yet another of the group has passed on.
Now that I'm in my business, there are so many things to do in a day. That's both one of the blessings and at times curses of running an operation. Will I attend the Rosary? Absolutely. The work will always be there but having the opportunity to pay your respects to a friend and former co-worker reminds me that it's the people in life who are important.
