Recent Posts:What's it like being a business owner?Let me answer it this way. As an employee, do you fear losing your job? Would it create a financial catastrophe for you and your family? As a small business operator, I could lose a client and still be able to provide for my family. An employee working for one employer probably does not have that luxary (unless they have considerable emergency funds). My Mother and many friends cautioned me about opening up my own business and quoted the rates of failure. Sure I was scared. I'd be a liar if I didn't admit my personal fears about my business chances for success. For me, I knew I just had to take a chance for more control over my own destiny. So, what's it like to be a business owner? For me it's even better than I imagined. The hours are certainly longer but I don't have to feel powerless come raise evaluation time. Don't get me wrong. There are a lot of positives to working as an employee including but not limited to gaining valuable experience to learn your craft. If you're thinking about it but are afraid, that's o.k.. It's normal to have concerns. You can even begin small while still employed. Just start. I am a CPA in San Antonio and provide bookkeeping, payroll, taxes and more.
