Recent Posts:Traits of small business ownersI have worked with a number of small business owners over the years. In that time, I've observed a number of traits which seem to be common among them. Frugalness - I don't mean cheap. I mean that small business owners are careful with their spending. At the same time, those same owners will spend big if it means the opportunity to increase sales and/or cut down on expenses. Jack of all trades - I've seen scores of business owners roll up their sleeves to paint walls, perform repairs and create their own interior design to name a few. I am amazed at how creative small business owners are. One in particular used cast offs from a job site to create an industrial looking office. His desk? He cut down a door and used other material for the legs. Corregated metal was used to create the front of his customer counter. The look was so cool. Willingness to put in long hours - When it's your business, a business owner is willing to work long hours to see their dream has the best chance to succeed. Risk taking - Most of the small business owners I deal with started out under capitalizing. They knew that they needed more money but were willing to risk taking a chance to become a small business owner. I share those same traits. Very few people get the opportunity to start out with everything they need. For the majority, you find a way. I am a CPA in San Antonio and provide bookkeeping, payroll, taxes and more. We offer a free initial visit and look forward to serving your business needs.
