  • Repair or replace a business asset

Wouldn't you know it.  During the craziest time of deadlines my multipurpose machine (fax, copy, scan, print) decided to malfunction.  Well, I did all I know to do with it.  I changed the toner, moved the corona wire back and force, gave it pleading looks to work but nothing seemed to do the trick.  I had to make a decision all business owners face at one time or another.  Do I repair or replace?

I have a new machine all picked out and love all the features it provides.  Still, what would it cost to give me another bit more life to the old machine.  She, I'll call the machine she, has been good to us over the years.  She's been there in lean times and flush.  I've relied on her seemingly countless times over 5+ years with very little problem.  How could I just leave her now?

It's a business decision.  A cold hard business decision.  Still, it might not be too expensive and who knows, we may have many more productive years together.

So, what was my decision?  I decided to spend the bucks fixing her up (far cheaper than the new) but now will look to buy new and relegate my old trusty multipurpose machine to a backup role.  She deserves it for all her productivity over the years.

I am a CPA in San Antonio and provide bookkeeping, payroll, taxes and more.  We offer a free initial visit and look forward to serving your business needs.
