Starting a business on a shoe string budget

Let's suppose you'd like to be in business for yourself but your funds are low.  Well, welcome the group.  You'd be surprised how large a percentage is underfunded when starting a business.  That's not a death knell but you've got to be smart to make it work.

Boil down what you really, really need before you decide on launching your enterprise.  Maybe you have ambitious plans for a world beater of a company.  That's fine but you've got to be creative if you want to be successful on limited funds.  If may be starting with a small part of your dream and growing into the rest.  After all, to get anywhere, you need to take steps to get going.
