  • Lesson from the movie Julie and Julia

Last night, my wife and I watched a movie together.  It was Julie and Julia, based upon the lives of two real life women.

Both women loved to cook (as do I) and both were able to create a career out of their passion (cooking).

I came away reinvigorated to work my business by watching this particular movie.  It teaches perseverance and the need to have a passion for what you do.  The movie reflects the ultimate destination is a journey and the initial steps taken may not reveal its final place.

For each of the main characters, they faced trials but learned about what it takes to succeed.  I believe operating your own business teaches you the same thing.

With jobs increasingly harder to find, doesn't it make sense to create your own job that could pay you whatever you wish?  Running your own business may be able to do that.

Probably THE hardest thing for me was just taking that first move to open my own shop.  The fear of the unknown was crippling.  Not anymore.  I love what I do and look forward to doing it each day.  How many of you feel that way about the work you do?

Watch the movie I mentioned.  I believe you will like it.  Give me a call to discuss how we can take your passion for something and turn it into a business.

I am a CPA in San Antonio and look forward to serving your individual and/or business needs.
