Nowhere am I so desperately needed as among a shipload of illogical humans. --Spock in 'I, Mudd'Spock on Star Trek. Man, I loved that character almost as much as I liked Kirk on the show. O.K., so I'm a trekkie. I'm not talking about buying the outfits and extending the Spock hand sign as I greet you but yes I watch/watched the show over and over again.
You know the feeling of doing something over and over again. Sometimes you feel comfortable in the repetition. Sometimes you feel frustrated by it.
When I meet with small business clients, I ask questions. Lots of questions. I want to know about how they do things in their business. Why? Because I'm also a businessman and there are certain tasks which when performed correctly will increase the odds of success. When I give advice over and over on the same thing, I get frustrated. The reason for my frustration is because I feel certain with every fiber in my being that implementing the advice I give will help them prosper.
To receive advice from someone who has made the same decision for self employment is like having gold dust in your hands. You need to take care of it and avoid letting its worth slip through your fingers simply because you are not paying attention.
Business owners need to listen and implement good advice when given to avoid being illogical in how they approach their business decisions.
