How to achieve business successI've been fortunate to work with a number of small businesses. Most have been under capitalized but were successful because they put their whole heart (not literally) into making their dream of business ownership a success. It didn't hurt that they knew their market and had a sound idea of how to turn a profit.
Someone once told me a story of how people starting a business with or without money is like being put somewhere on a mountain. The one who starts with a lot of money would start at the top and not enough money at the bottom. At some point, a person who starts a business will end up where they should be. In other words, starting with too much money and a bad plan will mean eventually those people will find themselves out of money and at the bottom while starting with little money and a good plan may still rise up on the mountain.
I'm not suggesting it's a bad idea to start with a lot of money but am suggesting to make sure you have a good business plan so you don't go through all your financial resources before you figure out why your business model is flawed. The money could mask your problem until it's all gone.
