How to build a following through tradition

I went to a local University's Light the Way ceremony last night.  It is the 24th installment of what began as a series of 2 sided wooden displays on campus which grew into somewhere near a million lights illuminating the campus currently.  People in the community come in droves to listen to the music and watch as the lights are turned on.  It marks the beginning of the Holiday season for lots of families locally.

Tradition comes from doing things repetitively.  Like the university's tradition described above, creating one of your own comes from doing things over and over which can over time increase your sales (especially if your name is mentioned in the thing you do).

Find your own way to start one to increase your name recognition.  It doesn't have to be expensive but it does help if people can over time come to expect it due to it's reliability in happening.
