A tale of two businessesThere are two competing businesses providing the same type of things within a stone's throw from each other. I've been in both a couple of times and now I hear recently that one of them is for sale.
The knowledge of the particular one for sale doesn't really surprise me. Each time I've been in the up for sale location I had what you might call underwhelming service.
I like to chat. That's a simple fact. The operation which appears to be doing well engages its customers in conversation each time they come in. The other does not.
The offering of goods and services is enhanced when customers feel like they have a store of their own. Like Norm on the old TV show Cheers, you just want to feel like you have a connection to them.
Here's hoping the future new owner learns quickly one of the major keys of what it takes to make operating a business successful.
