Inside the mind of an entrepreneurMy Father in law operated his own business for over thirty years. I would marvel at the hours he would put in. First he would work all day in his shop then go home to have dinner and relax for a bit. Later in the evening, he would decide to return to the shop to "get a little extra done". Weekends for him went much the same way.
I remember thinking "why did he go back to the shop after completing a full day of work". It turns out the answer is rather simple. It doesn't feel like work.
As a small business owner, I set my own hours and days to work. Yet, I put in more hours than I ever did working in corporate America. It's not about the money. I mean, the monies nice but it's more about doing something that you have a connection with.
Even now, a day after Thanksgiving, my thoughts are centered on my business. Should I go into the office, work from home or use this day to relax while "recharging" my body? I'm torn between going into the office and FORCING myself to stay home to enjoy some well earned rest.
I honestly don't know what my decision will be but if I was a betting man, the day will probably find me in my office catching up on some work to make things easier next week. We shall see.
