What is a good purchase? To me, a good purchase is when you buying something which can benefit you in multiple ways. So what's my newest purchase? A used 1994 red Ford F-150 truck XLT. Why? Let me explain.
I can't count the number of times I've called upon friends and family to borrow their trucks for things. Moving boxes (like when I was moving my office from one part of town a few months ago to another), buying bulky things (a desk find acquired on Craigslist), repair supplies (boards, sheetrock and such) for the improvements made at my current office location.
It gets old real fast when you make that call. "Hello, hey this is Richard. Do you have any plans for your truck this weekend? I could really use it for an errand". Most recently, I borrowed my Father In Law's truck for a task. I was ready to go at 6AM but waited till after 9AM before we could leave the house to get it.
A good purchase will yield benefits that are far reaching. My "new" truck will give me the opportunity for freedom to load stuff and maximize my time. Of course it doesn't hurt to have an extra vehicle for the family when the inevitable car break down occurs. Now, we have options and at a good price of purchase.
Oh did I buy merely after test driving the truck? No way! I asked my mechanic to look it over and give me the o.k. on its soundness. After all, he's going to be the one who will help to keep the truck on the road for years to come.
