Recent Posts:Education is important but so is experienceWe are on the verge of another class of students graduating from colleges and universities. I remember back to when I entered the work force after completing school. I began my professional career full of theory but with no experience. I stared looking for a job and like many others before me and after me faced the paradox. "I would hire you if only you had experience". That phrase was uttered by a few potential employers. My response was the same as many thousands of others. "How can I get experience if I am not hired?"Well, many years have passed since I had to "cut my teeth" and now I have experience in both the corporate world (having worked for a number of companies with each larger than the one before) and in my own business.
I am grateful for those employers who allowed me the opportunity to learn on the job. Through them, I was mentored on new ways of doing things. I view that time of my life as a paid internship for what I do now which is to run my own company.
Like I said, education is important but experience is equally so.
