How to learn to manage your business on the cheap
One of the things I've learned over the years is to always be willing to acquire more knowledge. That said, one of my new favorite shows is on the National Geographic Channel called the Turnaround King.
The premise of the show is a turnaround specialist who is contacted by owners of failing businesses to help save the company for the owners. I've seen a couple of their shows over the Father's Day Weekend and was impressed by the content.
It's not that the Turnaround King offers any new and undiscovered techniques to salvaging a company but tried and true approaches which the business owners have gotten away from.
The topics they deal with are worth watching. What to price your product or service at, setting up a business plan to get yourself out of danger (to avoid having to shut the doors), inspiring morale at your business to get everyone to pull together to name a few.
As a business owner myself, it took me awhile before I figured out I couldn't afford to compete price wise with the guy who sells his/her services "on the side". Once I decided I needed to change my pricing strategy to be able to charge a fair price (to pay for staff and overhead), my business improved.
If you have a business in trouble then consider giving us a call. What we offer to help isn't revolutionary but when things are becoming too much, it's often times hard to be able to map out the best step.
I am a CPA in San Antonio and provide bookkeeping, payroll, taxes and more. We offer a free initial visit and look forward to serving your business needs.
