Think outside the box to generate additional salesAll work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. It took me quite awhile to develop interests outside of operating a business. Why? Because a business starts with a small spark and you must carefully and constantly fan the flame into a roaring fire to better guarantee its success.
So what is one of my interests outside of operating a business? Probably buying and riding bicycles. Actually, it's less an interest and more an obsession. I needed a way to get daily exercise which didn't require an opponent (like tennis, baseball and such). As you get older, you need to maintain physical activity or you risk being put on medication as your body begins to slow down, lose muscle and break down.
My most recent witness to thinking outside the box was attending the latest installment of Frankenbike. What's Frankenbike? It's a gathering (in my city it changes locations each month) where you can sell your bike, accessories and stuff to other people . You pay no fee for your selling space but simply just set up shop. Along with individuals, local bicycle shops also set up alongside you to sell their inventory. How great is that where a business could set up a booth to sell with the knowledge the event will be well attended. It's brilliant and an example of thinking outside the box to generate additional sales to their target audience.
How do you know when and where the next Frankenbike is going to occur? Well, in my town it's posted on craigslist san antonio in the for sale section under bikes.
I buy things for my bicycles pretty regularly (a bell here, a mirror, lights or some accessory). It's what I do to work off stress. Even in my hobby, I witness how sales take place.
