  • Keys to deternining if you're ready for self employment

Why are you still an employee when so many others are self employed.  What does it take to be your own boss?  How do I know if I'm ready.  I've had countless meetings with people who love the idea of working for themselves but don't know if they should do it or not.

Some of the keys in determining if you're a good candidate for self employment include:

    -  Expertise in the industry you plan to operate within.

    -  A love for doing the work you're considering.

    -  Good people skills.  This one is hugely important.

    -  Being a self motivator.

    -  Having a plan on how you're business is going to succeed.

Notice I didn't mention working capital.  Well, that's certainly important but if you don't have the above then you'll burn through the money eventually and be out of business anyway.

So, how do you know if it's time?  Well, if the fear of failure is less than the frustration in continuing on your current career path then you're ready.

I am a CPA in San Antonio and provide bookkeeping, payroll, taxes and more.  We offer a free initial visit and look forward to serving your business needs.
