  • Operating a business from home

Operating a business from home can offer savings over renting a office space or retail spot.  For many businesses, it'll work fine up to a point.  The problem arises in being able to turn off the business and relax.

There was a time when my wife asked me to bring my business back into the home to help with our baby at the time.  She got more help from her husband and I had savings on the rent I was paying.  The trouble is when clients come and your children pick that moment to have a breakdown crying for a bottle or needing some attention. I also had trouble stopping work for the day since it was there for me nearby.

Make sure to dedicate one room completely to your home based business.  Try to set a specific time when work will stop and do your best from going back in there "after hours" to get ahead.  The structure will help you to have more quality personal time and be less resentful of the business being operated in your home.
