Know when to call an expert

I think my expertise in automobile mechanics was exceeded by technology right about the time I migrated from the used 1974 Chevy Nova which I purchased (with my own hard earned money) and drove in High School and College.  I used to do pretty much all the repairs and the simplicity of the engines design made repairs a snap (even for a mechanically challenged guy like me).

Yesterday, I spent a few hours (yes hours) replacing a battery on my present car.  It's equipped with an alarm system and after replacing the battery I couldn't disable the alarm.  My frustration grew as I'm sure all the passerby people's did as well.  At the end, I had to leave the car where it was and just call a mechanic to get that vehicle out of whatever alarm mode it's in on Monday.

My time is better spent working on what I do best than to keep beating my head against a wall in a vain attempt to do what an expert can do in a much shorter time.
