Give your business to your clients whenever possible
Years ago, I was working for a company in town. The head of that unit suggested that my old boss use one of the firm's clients for a purchase he was contemplating. My old boss bristled at the suggestion and told all within earshot that he can do whatever he wants with his money on his own time. Well I understood his position that you are free to do whatever you want on your own time and with your own money. The trouble was my old boss missed the point.
Giving your customers your business does a number of things. It strengthens the business relationship as both benefit in terms of dollars going back and forth, it lets the other know that you are not just a dollar sign to them, you get the opportunity to put a face with a firm and it makes it easier for you to recommend them to others since you know the quality of what they offer much better.
Whevever possible, I use my clients for things I may need for my business and my household. It just makes sense.
